This thing is so cool. It wasn’t hard to set up, but doesn’t come with a step driver, so there’s that. I am having trouble with software for programming. I’m having trouble, but I’ll get it.

The stock 4th axis on my Stepcraft M.1000 has always worked great but it only has a NEMA 17 stepper motor. So it’s limited to smaller projects. I needed to have something with more torque and speed for a spindle project and I took a chance with this kit because of the great price compared to other options I was looking at. Plus it touted a more powerful NEMA 23 stepper motor which my system uses for the other 3 axes. It took a bit of trial and error to get the wiring to my 4th axis controller right and then to configure it properly in UCCNC. It was worth it after I got it up and running. I was able to cut the job time on this project in half! The chuck and tailstock are heavy duty and great quality. I’m impressed with this surprising new addition to my system.
