Great drum sander, it is easy to put together but I would recommend an extra set of hands because it is all there. It comes with a send of sandpaper and as of yet I have not had the need to replace it, however I do use a cleaning stick to keep the paper clean. Set up was a breeze and the open side is great for larger projects.

This is a great tool. Although it is very heavy, it was otherwise fairly easy to assemble. Only the stand requires assembly and the sander needs to be bolted to it. All the holes lined up!
Among the things I have used it for is to sand an end grain butcher block cutting board. I turned out perfect. The drum sander works far better than a planer on end grain. It is also better than a planer for taking off very small amounts of thickness.

I’m impressed with the VELOR 10″ Benchtop Drum Sander. Overall quality was quite good. The sander arrived in a sturdy wooden box with large wood block feet, which made it easy to move with a dolly. At 170 lbs, it’s a heavy machine, and this packaging design was a huge help. Inside, the sander was almost completely assembled and adjusted. All I had to do was unbolt it from the crate, attach the adjustment dial, and it was ready to plug in. The instruction manual was easy to read and fairly complete. It came with one sheet of sandpaper pre-installed. If you’re ordering this, you may want to order a few extra sheets with different grit at the same time. My first test was sanding my giant Jenga set which consist of 30 2 x 4’s. The process was incredibly straightforward. After finding the initial thickness, I passed each board through once on each side. Then, a simple quarter-turn of the depth adjustment dial was all that was needed for the next pass. The depth adjustment was precise and stable. The feed speed I set was a little too fast for the material, and the internal breaker tripped, which is exactly what it’s designed to do. The nice thing is the instruction manual warned about this, it was quick to identify the issue and resolve it by reducing the feed rate. I slowed the feed rate slightly and ran all the remaining pieces through multiple times without a single issue. The results were smooth and consistent. While I haven’t needed to change the sandpaper yet, I did remove the cover to check. Access is clear and simple, which suggests maintenance will be as easy as the operation This drum sander is a very well-built and heavy-duty drum sander. It’s remarkably easy to set up and use, and the performance is excellent. I am very happy that I ordered this sander and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable benchtop drum sander.
