Right out of the box I have had great luck with it. I am only using it for automotive sheet metal and it works great. My only complaint is the weight. On a bench or floor, no issue. Trying to hold it in the air and position it to use around a car is very difficult. Still better than a lightweight toy model.

I have wanted one of these for years, but always ended up using the mig welder or screwing things together. Ran across a nice big restaurant strainer made of stainless that the handle was spot welded on, but had broken loose. I didn’t want to buy the correct gas for the mig and didn’t want screws in the handle, so I bought this. Cleaned up the metal on both pieces, clamped it on, held the button just a couple of seconds and it worked great, so I went ahead as it originally had about 8 spot welds, and did 7 more. I should have bought one years ago, lots of projects would have been much quicker, easier and cheaper, since I would not be using any wire or gas.

Spot welder works pretty good. This is a very heavy welder. Recommend you purchase a spring balancer
to help with the weight.

It works well. It is heavy for portable but I would prefer it that way because it feels built better. So far very happy with it. I have only used it a few times. It only takes a split second to weld on clean thin metal.

It’s heavy and awkward but a good tool to have if you need one. I hooked a bungee cord to my ceiling and attached to it which really helped with lugging the thing around

Great unit! -Needs cleaner surfaces and tighter clamping than I had expected, but really does the job! Be ready to upgrade the breaker your using, as this baby draws some serious amps.
